Following are the contents of a letter being distributed to all families at Banting Memorial High School, Bear Creek Secondary School, Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School, Tosorontio Central PS and Baxter Central PS regarding the attendance area review.

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) monitors enrolment trends and facility conditions in an effort to ensure that school attendance areas are structured to support student achievement. When necessary, SCDSB staff complete attendance area reviews (AAR) to balance enrolment and support student success and well-being.

The SCDSB Board of Trustees has approved a review of the attendance areas of Banting Memorial High School, Bear Creek Secondary School and Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School. The intent is to balance enrolment and alleviate pressures at Banting Memorial High School and Bear Creek Secondary School by realigning feeder school attendance boundaries.

SCDSB staff are currently considering the following:

  • Aligning the Tosorontio Central PS and Baxter Central PS boundaries entirely with Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School's attendance area.

The review will take place during the 2017-18 school year and include a public meeting to address parent questions and get feedback on the proposed changes.

Further information is included in the SCDSB's 2016-17 Capital Plan. You can view it online at www.scdsb.on.ca  under 'Board' and 'Capital Planning'. Click on the Capital Plan 2016-17 link. We will continue to keep you informed as decisions are made regarding the review.
